While working at a major Canadian Airline at Pearson Airport, one of the privileges was being able to work on special flights coming in. One of these flights was Air Force 1, the President of the United States’ plane. A senior lead station attendant, who will remain anonymous, was known for playing pranks on the new hires. He and some of his friends would tell them to go to other airlines and ask for “bin stretchers,” and other such jokes.
On one occasion, when President Clinton was in office, AF1 was parked at one of the main hangars at the airport. The senior lead station attendant told a new hire that a supervisor had called over the radio requesting a tug for AF1. Excited to be of assistance, the new hire set off on a tug towards the plane.
However, a few minutes later, calls went out over the radio for management to come out to the ramp. When they arrived, they found the new hire lying face down on the ground, surrounded by five Secret Service agents with guns drawn and pointed at him, shouting for him to be quiet while he cried like a baby. It is said that the new hire quit later that day.
