“The Air Canada Cargo Ladies’ Comeback Season”

The Air Canada Cargo ladies fastball team had a slow start to their season in 1992, but they persevered and finished with a strong record of winning five of their last six games. This accomplishment secured them third place and a spot in the playoffs for the nine-team league. The team’s success can be attributed in part to the hard work of cargo agents Sandy Kerby and Lorraine Ashcroft, as well as A/Totem training instructor Hariette Vandervenne.

In the quarterfinals of the playoffs, the team faced off against Streetsville Sports in a best-of-three series. Despite feeling a bit overconfident, the Air Canada team suffered a 9-2 defeat in the first game. However, they refused to let this setback bring them down and fought back with a 5-2 victory in the second game, thanks in part to Litchfield’s impressive four-hit performance. In the decisive third game, the Air Canada Cargo ladies advanced to the semifinals with an 8-2 win, thanks to Lisa Trinkwon’s excellent pitching. Though they put up a strong fight, the team ultimately met their match in the semifinals against the Cougars.
