Way back in the 1980s, A ramp manager had been looking forward to starting his 5am shift. As he made his way to the office in the zone 5 area of Terminal two in YYZ, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement for the day ahead. However, as he pulled up to park his supervisor’s car, he was taken aback by what he saw. The zone 5 kiosk office, which should have been in plain sight, was nowhere to be found. It was as if it had vanished into thin air. The ramp manager couldn’t believe his eyes.
The first thing that popped into his mind was, “I bet it was those damn ramp agents up to their no good tricks.” He had dealt with their pranks before and knew that they were always coming up with new ways to cause mischief. As he got out of the car, he decided to investigate further. He walked around the area, searching for any clues that might explain the kiosk’s sudden disappearance.
As he made his way to the south hold, he heard a muffled sound coming from behind some pallets. Curious, he walked closer to investigate. To his surprise, he found the missing kiosk, sitting behind the pallets. The ramp agents who had worked the midnight shift had used a bull moose forklift to move it there as a prank. It was a funny prank by the boys but the ramp manager wasn’t impressed. He was furious that they had gone to such great lengths to pull off this prank and wasted company time and resources.
The ramp manager had an idea who was behind it all, but couldn’t prove it. He even tried to look at the closed circuit camera nearby but it was covered with spray paint. The ramp agents had thought of everything, including covering their tracks. The ramp manager was left feeling frustrated and disappointed, knowing that he couldn’t do anything to hold them accountable for their actions. As he walked back to his car, he couldn’t help but shake his head in disbelief at the lengths that some people will go to for a laugh.
The moral of this story is that pranks, while they may seem harmless and funny, can have real consequences and waste valuable time and resources. It’s important to think about the impact of our actions on others before going through with a joke, and to be accountable for our behavior. It’s also important to respect the property and time of the company.
